Why Printhead Clogging Is So Costly
Printhead clogging is one of the most common and expensive problems in DTF and DTG printing. White ink, because of its high titanium dioxide (TiO2) content, is especially prone to settling, separation, and buildup. However, CMYK and specialty textile inks can also separate over time, leading to unstable ink flow and inconsistent print performance.
This can result in:
- Nozzle blockages, causing banding, missing nozzles, and print defects
- More downtime and maintenance, reducing productivity
- Ink waste, due to excessive purging and cleaning cycles
- Shorter printhead life, from repeated buildup and cleaning stress
Traditional Fixes Don't Solve the Root Problem
Many printers try to manage clogging with reactive methods such as:
- White ink circulation systems - helpful at the tank level, but they do not fully address separation in lines, dampers, cartridges, or bottles
- Manual shaking and agitation - can help temporarily, but requires constant effort and is not always consistent
- Frequent printhead cleanings - wastes ink and time without addressing pigment instability at the source
These methods can help manage symptoms, but they do not proactively stabilize the ink itself. MAGICMIX™ is designed to address that problem before the ink reaches the printer.
How MAGICMIX™ Helps
MAGICMIX™ is formulated to help keep pigments more evenly dispersed for longer, improving the consistency of the ink before and during printing.
- Improved ink flow - helps support smoother, more consistent delivery through the print system
- Reduced settling and separation - helps keep pigments better dispersed in bottles, tanks, cartridges, and dampers
- Less clogging and maintenance - helps reduce buildup that can contribute to nozzle issues
- Extended printhead life - supports cleaner operation and less stress from repeated cleaning cycles
- Better print consistency - helps maintain stronger, more even color output
Print More, Clog Less™
Standard Ink vs Ink + MAGICMIX ™
| Feature | Standard Ink | Ink + MAGICMIX™ |
| Setup | Use ink as-is | Just mix with your existing ink |
| Ink Stability | More prone to settling over time | Improved pigment dispersion |
| Ink Flow | Can become inconsistent | Smoother, more consistent flow |
| Nozzle Performance | Higher risk of clogging and misfires | Helps reduce clogging risk |
| Maintenance | More frequent purging and cleaning | Reduced maintenance and downtime |
| Compatibility | Depends on existing ink system | Works with any brand of DTF or DTG ink |
How to Use MAGICMIX™
Using MAGICMIX™ is simple:
- Mix 1 part MAGICMIX™ with 17 parts ink (approximately 6% of total ink volume)
- Add directly to your ink bottle, tank, or cartridge
- Shake well before use to ensure proper mixing
MAGICMIX™ works with white, black, cyan, magenta, and yellow DTF or DTG textile inks.
Directions for Use
- Add one 60ml bottle of MAGICMIX™ to approximately 950ml to 1 liter of your DTF or DTG ink
- You are targeting a 1:17 ratio - that is 1 part MAGICMIX™ to 17 parts ink, or approximately 6% of your ink volume
- Pour directly into your white or CMYK ink bottle, tank, or cartridge
- Shake thoroughly after adding MAGICMIX™ to assist dispersion
Works With
- DTF and DTG textile inks (White, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black)
- Any brand of compatible DTF or DTG ink
Helpful Tips
- Best mixed at the source - in the ink bottle or tank before the ink reaches the printer
- Shake after adding to support proper pigment dispersion
- Pair with circulation systems and regular maintenance for best overall performance
- If needed, slightly increase curing time by 5-10 seconds for optimal adhesion, especially on heavier prints
A Smarter Solution for Professional Printing
By helping stabilize ink before it enters the printer, MAGICMIX™ works proactively to support cleaner ink flow, reduce maintenance, improve uptime, and maintain stronger print consistency.
