Create vibrant, weed-free transfers for apparel and specialty substrates with iColor™ toner transfer media. Choose easy 1-step paper for light garments, 2-step media for durable transfers on light or dark textiles, or specialty media for hard surfaces, metallic effects, decals, temporary tattoos and more.
Use the guide below to compare LIGHT, SELECT, STANDARD and PREMIUM media, then select the paper type and size designed for your printer, substrate and desired finish.
iColor™ transfer media lets you decorate light and dark garments without cutting or weeding. The available paper families differ in workflow, transfer feel, pressing temperature, durability and cost.
Start with the four primary textile media types below, or explore specialty media for hard surfaces, metallic finishes, decals, temporary tattoos and other applications.
Choose LIGHT for the fastest, lowest-cost light-garment workflow; SELECT for an economical, stretchable everyday transfer; STANDARD for dependable opacity and color on dark garments; or PREMIUM for the softest feel, lower-temperature application and longest rated wash life.
All four textile families are weed-free. LIGHT is a one-sheet process, while SELECT, STANDARD and PREMIUM use separate transfer and adhesive sheets to place adhesive only where toner is printed.
| Media | Process | Best For | Key Advantages | Rated Wash Life* | Typical Press Profile** |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| LIGHT | 1 step | White, light and medium-colored garments; quick or promotional work | Fastest workflow, no A/B marrying step, economical and very soft | Up to 25 washes | Cotton: 390°F for 15 sec. Polyester: 305°F for 15 sec. |
| SELECT | 2 step: transfer + adhesive | Everyday transfers on light and dark textiles | Strong translucent adhesive, good stretch and matte finish at a lower cost | 30–50 washes | A/B marry: 310°F for 120 sec. Cotton transfer: 310°F for 25 sec. |
| STANDARD | 2 step: A transfer + B adhesive | General-purpose production, especially dark garments | White adhesive for strong opacity, adhesion and vibrant color; broad size selection | Up to 50 washes | A/B marry: 310°F for 120 sec. Cotton transfer: 310°F for 30 sec. |
| PREMIUM | 2 step: opaque transfer + adhesive | Highest-quality apparel, dark garments and many heat-sensitive synthetics | Softest screen-print-like feel, excellent brightness and red reproduction, low-temperature workflow | Up to 100 washes | A/B marry: 250°F for 30 sec. Garment transfer: 250°F for 30 sec. |

Print and press directly to the garment without marrying a separate adhesive sheet. LIGHT media offers a very soft feel and short 15-second transfer time for economical production.
Because it does not add the adhesive backing used by the 2-step papers, it is recommended for white, light or medium-colored garments. Designs can appear muted as the fabric becomes darker.
SELECT combines a transparent transfer sheet with a strong, translucent adhesive sheet. The finished transfer has a matte texture, good stretch and dependable adhesion that helps detailed graphics stay together.
It is a practical lower-cost choice for routine light- and dark-garment work. Its higher A/B marrying temperature requires extra care with heat-sensitive fabrics.
STANDARD uses white adhesive to improve opacity, adhesion and color vibrancy, making it a strong all-around choice for detailed graphics on dark garments. It is available in an especially broad range of sheet sizes.
Some STANDARD products list A transfer sheets and B adhesive sheets separately. Match the media type and exact sheet size before ordering; both components are required for the 2-step process.
PREMIUM is designed for the softest possible hand, a bright finished image and excellent color reproduction—particularly reds. Its finish most closely resembles screen printing.
The complete process runs at 250°F, making PREMIUM the preferred option for many polyester, nylon and poly-cotton garments where excessive heat can scorch, melt or cause dye migration.
The printable coating and transfer layer are contained in one sheet. Print the mirrored image, press it to the substrate, peel as instructed and complete the required finishing press.
Best when speed and simplicity matter most. LIGHT is designed for textiles; specialty 1-step media is also available for selected hard-surface and decal applications.
First print the mirrored design on the A transfer sheet. The printed A sheet is then pressed face-to-face with the B adhesive sheet and separated while hot, so adhesive remains only on the toner image. The prepared transfer is then pressed to the garment, cooled and peeled.
This selective adhesive process produces weed-free, free-floating detail without a rectangular background. A finishing press is required for proper feel and wash durability.
Beyond everyday garment transfers, specialty papers and films expand a compatible toner printer into additional products and effects. Availability may change, so review each product page before ordering.
Colored and metallic transfer sheets add white, black, bright color or metallic effects to textile designs. These are 2-step products and require the specified compatible B adhesive.
Glitter B adhesive can be paired with the specified STANDARD A transfer media, while hot-stamping foils create additional metallic, colored and glitter finishes in compatible workflows.
Decorate compatible metal, ceramic, glass, wood, acrylic, plastic and other surfaces. Unlike dye sublimation, selected toner-transfer papers can work on uncoated and dark substrates.
A 1-step decal option for candles and other surfaces that may not tolerate conventional heat-transfer temperatures. Follow the product-specific application and finishing instructions.
Printable transfer-and-adhesive sets designed specifically for temporary skin graphics. Use only media identified for temporary tattoo applications and follow all supplied instructions.
Long-format banner sheets support oversized output on compatible printers, while sample packs make it easier to test multiple textile media types before purchasing full packs.
Dye sublimation turns sublimation ink into gas and normally requires polyester or a polymer-coated substrate. Toner transfer uses heat and pressure to move a printed toner image and transfer coating onto the surface, enabling decoration of cotton, blends, dark garments and many uncoated hard goods when the correct media is used.
Wash decorated garments inside out in cold or warm water with low agitation. Avoid fabric softener and high dryer heat; tumble dry low or hang dry for best results. Never place a hot iron directly on the transfer—protect it with approved heat-transfer kraft paper if ironing is necessary.
Choose a compatible 2-step textile paper. SELECT is the economical, stretchable everyday option; STANDARD emphasizes opacity and vibrancy; PREMIUM provides the softest feel, lower-temperature application and longest rated wash life.
Yes for SELECT, STANDARD, PREMIUM and other products identified as 2-step media. Some kits include both parts; other listings sell A transfer or B adhesive sheets separately. LIGHT textile media is a 1-step paper.
No. Compatibility varies by printer, fuser, printable area, supported media weight and paper path. Confirm the exact printer and media combination before purchase. A white-toner-enabled printer is recommended for the best opacity and color on dark substrates.
Not necessarily. Selected toner hard-surface papers are designed for many uncoated materials, but the substrate must tolerate the required heat and pressure. Use the substrate-specific instructions and test before production.
Product specifications and instructions may change. Always review the current instructions included with the exact media and confirm compatibility with your printer, heat press, garment or substrate. Brand names are the property of their respective owners.
