WARNING: WARNING: WORK IN A WELL VENTILATED AREA and use Protective Equipment (including masks and gloves) when working with specialty printing and curing products and processes (including DTF, DTG, UV etc.) as fumes and processes may be hazardous. We highly recommend the use of a fume extractor when working with DTF powder in addition to good ventilation and filtration in your work area. The use of all specialty ink printing equipment and supplies such as inks, chemicals, powders etc. are at the sole risk of the user. Specialty inks and film require a good humidity and temperature environment (55% - 75% humidity, and 75° to 80°F) to minimize risk of ink clogs and film buckling.

DTF (Direct to Film) ink is used in a process where designs are printed onto a special film (DTF film) and then transferred to fabric using heat, allowing for vibrant and durable prints on various materials. DTG (Direct to Garment) ink, on the other hand, is directly applied to the fabric using specialized printers, offering high-quality prints primarily on cotton-based textiles. DTG and DTF inks are different, however DTG inks used in DTG printers can be used to perform DTF processes with some slight adjustments to time / pressure / temp settings on the powder curing and/or heat press side of things. If you are planning to utilize your DTG printer for DTF printing processes, you also want to pick films that are best suited for your DTG printer /… See full answer »

For the DTFPRO Film for use with the Ricoh Ri1000 / Ri1000x / Ri2000, here is the recommended curing instructions to cure the DTF POWDER to the INK/TRANSFER SHEETS:

330F - heat press hover for 3- 4 minutes. This was tested with a Geo Knight Heat press with the hover option that sets the heating platen close to the film – 3 minutes is enough. If hand hovering it may take a bit longer. Exact time and temp may vary depending on heat press… See full answer »

Yes, you typically can use a Direct-to-Garment (DTG) printer for Direct-to-Film (DTF) printing. You would need DTF sheets (a DTG printer is platen based, so printing to rolls with a DTG printer is typically not possible) and you may need to perform some trial and error to find the best matching DTF film and adhesive powders to match your DTG printer inks. You may also need to perform some trial and error to find the best settings to melt your powder, and heat press your transfers. This is because DTG inks are slightly different to DTF inks, and therefore require different temp / pressure / time settings with DTF powders and films. For example, for Ricoh DTG printers, those have been match-tested to work with specific DTFPRO consumables… See full answer »
