MagicPowder™ is a versatile, patent-pending family of transfer powders engineered for three distinct garment-decoration workflows: traditional DTF printing, weedless HTF and foil transfers using MAGICINK™, and full-color MagicLine™ Desktop Transfers.

Depending on the selected workflow and powder color, MagicPowder™ can act as an adhesive, provide an opaque white backing, become the visible color of a monochrome transfer, or create the bonding layer for foil and specialty finishes.

Take the DTF Hack Beyond White Shirts—Even Onto Black

The popular “DTF Hack” lets decorators create DTF-style transfers with compatible off-the-shelf pigment inkjet printers or sublimation printers. But these CMYK printers do not print white ink, so ordinary hack-style transfers have traditionally depended on the white garment itself to supply the background behind the colors.

Patent-pending White and Soft White MagicPowder™ change that. Instead of relying on white ink from the printer, the powder creates an opaque white backing behind the printed CMYK image—performing the key color-supporting function of the white underbase in conventional DTF. Your colors remain visible over compatible dark fabrics, opening the DTF Hack to dark garments, including black.

Traditional DTF Printing

When printing with conventional DTF CMYK and white inks, use Clear MagicPowder™ as the adhesive powder.

The printer’s white ink provides the opaque backing, while Clear MagicPowder™ melts and creates the adhesive layer that bonds the transfer to the garment.

MAGICINK™ HTF and Foil

Print with MAGICINK™ using a MagicLine™ printer or compatible Canon® or Epson® inkjet printer.

Clear Powder: Use when foil will provide the final color or finish

DTF Hack / Desktop Full-Color Transfers

Patent-Pending White and Soft White Provides adhesion and an opaque white backing for MagicLine™ DTF Hack and full-color desktop transfers. It supplies the key underbase effect missing from CMYK-only pigment and sublimation printers, expanding compatible applications to dark garments—including black—without white ink in the printer.

Black and Standard Colors Used with MAGICINK™ to create weedless monochrome transfers in which the powder becomes the visible print color.

Metallic and Specialty Colors Produce distinctive single-color, metallic, fluorescent or specialty effects when used with a compatible MAGICINK™ workflow.

How MagicPowder™ Is Used

Traditional DTF Process

Print the design with DTF CMYK and white ink
Apply Clear MagicPowder™ to the printed white-ink layer
Remove excess powder and cure until properly gelled
Heat press onto the garment and peel according to the recommended settings

MAGICINK™ HTF or Foil Process

Print the design with MAGICINK™
Apply Clear MagicPowder™ for foil, or select a colored powder for a monochrome transfer
Remove excess powder and cure using the recommended settings
Heat press the transfer onto the garment
For foil applications, complete the applicable MagicFoil™ finishing process

MagicLine™ DTF Hack / Desktop Full-Color Process

Print the mirrored design using a compatible off-the-shelf pigment inkjet printer or compatible sublimation printer and the appropriate MagicLine™ Transfer Sheet
Apply patent-pending White or Soft White MagicPowder™ for dark garments—including black—or Clear MagicPowder™ for white garments
Remove excess powder and cure the transfer
Heat press onto the garment and peel according to the supplied instructions
Apply patented MagicSeal™ Fusion Spray and complete the finishing press to help protect the printed image and improve wash durability

Important Compatibility Notes

The correct powder depends on the ink system, garment color and desired finished appearance.
Clear MagicPowder™ can be used as a conventional DTF adhesive powder when the printed transfer includes white ink.
For DTF Hack and full-color desktop transfers, Clear MagicPowder™ is intended for white garments only.
For compatible DTF Hack and full-color desktop transfers onto dark garments, use patent-pending White or Soft White MagicPowder™ to provide an opaque backing.
White or Soft White MagicPowder™ performs the opaque-backing function normally supplied by a printed white DTF ink layer; it does not add white ink to the printer.
For improved wash-and-wear performance in pigment and sublimation DTF Hack workflows, finish the applied transfer with patented MagicSeal™ Fusion Spray according to its instructions.
Colored MagicPowder™ variants are designed primarily for monochrome HTF applications using MAGICINK™.
Foil applications generally use Clear MagicPowder™ because the foil provides the final visible color and effect.
Cure temperature, pressing time, peel method and finishing requirements vary by workflow and powder formulation.
Store tightly sealed in a cool, dry, humidity-controlled environment.
